PBM 202: Event Management - Spring 2017
I received my bachelors of fine arts from Emporia State University, located in Kansas. The degree was for Technical Theatre - specifically set and costume design for the stage. However, I knew that I didn't want to do professional theatre. I started out my career in the event industry working at a party and costume rental store. I saw brides coming in with a sense of fear and confusion about what they needed to rent. I realized that it was my goal to help them get to the wedding of their dreams. 20 years later, I've planned or helped to create and implement thousands of events. It's hard work, and also very fulfilling. Most of my career has been in higher education, from producing presidential events and helping colleges distill their goals for social occasions to managing special event projects that have taken me across the country.
As a resident of Corvallis for more than 10 years, I love our community and value the opportunity to give back. My husband and I have "fur children": two dogs, a cat, fish and a large frog. My personal interests include going to concerts, aviation, gardening and home remodeling.
