Robert Dean Jones Agricultural and Mechanical/Welding Scholarship Endowment


To apply for this scholarship, simply download the LBCC Scholarship and Awards Application, complete it by the posted due date, be sure to include any additional materials required, and submit the completed application, with recommendations to the Financial Aid Office in Takena Hall. You will receive a letter following the selection process.

Scholarship Description:
Robert Dean Jones Scholarship: Applicants must be resident of Linn or Benton County, be a full-time, declared major in one of the following; Agriculture, Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Welding, or other similar fields that are important for farming. GPA must be 2.5 or better, must show financial need as defined by FAFSA. Students with 24 or more credits will receive preference, as will students aspiring toward a Bachelors degree.

Recipients will be selected based on the following:
  • Academic Subject Area:
    Engineering and Industrial
    Math and Science
  • Recipient must show financial need
  • Must be Oregon Resident
  • Must be a Linn or Benton Co. resident
  • Limited to residents of Linn and Benton Counties.
  • May be a dual-enrollment student
  • Requires a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Student's year at LBCC when receiving award: No Preference
  • Need shall be determined by filing a federal student aid application. Need is slightly more important than GPA. Preference is given to students who have a long range plan of completing a Bachelor's Degree. Preference to those who have 24 college credits.
Scholarships can be used for: Tuition, fees, and/or books
Award Amount: $450
Number of Awards available: 2
Apply during Spring Term
Enrollment necessary to receive award: Full-time
Enrollment requirement per term: 12 or more credit hrs.
Term(s) award to be paid: Fall

Robert Dean Jones is retired from active farming in Benton County after a career that spans over sixty years with Loren Smith Farms. He believes it is important for students interested in the farming industry to receive an education.
