Scholarship Description:
Writing Award - LBCC faculty will read all WR121 final essays, nominating outstanding essays(those that receive 12 points on a "blind" reading) at the end of each term. Nominated students will receive a letter of congratulations signed by the Division Director at the end of each term. At the end of the year, a final blind reading by English faculty will select the one or two students for the award. Selected essays will be submitted to the Eloquent Umbrella for consideration. This account was established to honor Art Bervin's 28 years of service to LBCC and recognize outstanding writing by LBCC students. Awarding of this scholarship is dependent upon funding.
Recipients will be selected based on the following:
  • Academic Subject Area:
    Arts, Humanities, and Social Science
  • Student's year at LBCC when receiving award: No Preference
  • Student has written a WR 121 final essay which receives 12 points on a blind reading and is selected from all the essays receiving 12 points at the end of the year.
