Anthony J. Moreira, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, simply download the LBCC Scholarship and Awards Application, complete it by the posted due date, be sure to include any additional materials required, and submit the completed application, with recommendations to the Financial Aid Office in Takena Hall. You will receive a letter following the selection process.

Scholarship Description:

This endowed scholarship was established by Joyce L. Moreira in 2007 in memory of Anthony J. Moreira, Jr. to assist an older (28+) student studying to become an elementary school teacher or Business Technology teacher.

Recipients will be selected based on the following:

Academic Subject Area:
Business
Education, Child and Family Studies
Recipient must show financial need
Must be Oregon Resident
Must be a Linn or Benton Co. resident
May be an international student
May be a dual-enrollment student
Requires a minimum GPA of 2.75/2.50
Student's year at LBCC when receiving award: No Preference
2.75 GPA for Transfer Students 2.50 GPA for Professional Technical Students Preference will be given to assist older students (28 years old and older.) Recipient must submit a thank-you note to the LBCC Foundation to receive the funds and attend the Foundation Spring Scholarshp Recognition Reception.

Scholarships can be used for: tuition/fees, books, childcare, living expenses and/or special needs

Award Amount: $750

Number of Awards available: 1

Apply during Fall Term,

Enrollment requirement per term: 1/2 Time 6 - 8 credit hrs.

Term(s) award to be paid: Winter,

Attendance is required at Foundation Spring Scholarship Reception

Anthony J. Moreira, Jr. was a teacher in the Greater Albany Public Schools for 19 years. He was awarded the 1990 Elementary Teacher of the Year. Anthony began college at LBCC as an older student at age 35.
