AAWCC Scholarship ($1000)


To apply for this scholarship, simply download the LBCC Scholarship and Awards Application, complete it by the posted due date, be sure to include any additional materials required, and submit the completed application, with recommendations to the Financial Aid Office in Takena Hall. You will receive a letter following the selection process.

Scholarship Description:
The LBCC Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) would like to support and encourage the recipient to meet declared educational, professional and personal goals. A one page separate essay addressing education, and personal and professional goals must be part of the application packet filed. The purpose of this award is for financial support for tuition and books while attending LBCC. This scholarship is non- renewable. Preference will be given to women who have attended LBCC at least one term prior to this application process. Award selection will be made through the Financial Aid/Foundation Scholarship Committee. AAWCC may have one or two representatives on the selection committee. Award of this scholarship is dependent upon available funding. This scholarship award is for $1000 - one for Winter Term and one for Spring Term of 2008-09 and new applications accepted for 2009-2010.

Recipients will be selected based on the following:
  • Academic Subject Area:
    Any subject area
  • May be an international student
  • Requires a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Student's year at LBCC when receiving award: Other
  • A one page separate essay addressing education, and personal and professional goals must be part of the application packet filed. Preference will be given to women who have attended LBCC at least one term prior to this application process, must be enrolled 9 or more credit hours during the award term and must have a declared major and clear personal goals.

Enrollment requirement per term: 3/4 Time 9 - 11 credit hrs.

The LBCC Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) is a campus organization whose purpose is to develop a community to support and promote the personal and professional growth of women at LBCC; to offer a forum for all staff as they provide services that respond to the needs of women students and employees; to promote excellence and equity for women in all roles and at all levels within the College.
