Hello! My name is Mashelle Painter and I am Faculty and Distance Education Coordinator with the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program, located at the LBCC Health Occupations Center in Lebanon, Oregon.
I have been an Occupational Therapy Assistant for over 30 years. I received my Associate degree from Mt. Hood Community College in 1985. In 2008, I received a BS in Liberal Studies from Eastern Oregon University and a MEd in Health and Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2012. At this time, I am studying for my Doctorate in Education in Organizational Leadership.
My OT background is in pediatrics, having worked primarily in K-12 school settings for most of my professional career. However, I also have clinical experience serving children and their families in community-based, private pediatric clinics. I am a PATH-certified therapeutic riding instructor and I particularly enjoy working with children (and adults) using Hippotherapy, a therapeutic intervention using the dynamic movement of the horse.
On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing on our tiny farm with my two spoiled Arabian horses and one little Shetland pony. I also love to cook and quilt, when time permits.
Courses I am teaching this year....
OTA 117 Professionalism
OTA 118 Documentation
OTA 119 Preparing for Success in the OTA Program
OTA 124A Physical Health Lab
OTA 140 Activity Analysis
OTA 222 Pediatric Theory & Practice

I also coordinate the laboratory component for the OTA program at our partner community colleges sites for our distance education students. I am thoroughly enjoying working with everyone here at LBCC!
