Kelly Hoke – Education/Child and Family Studies

Back to Instructor Webpages

Hello! My name is Kelly. I am a PT instructor here at LBCC and also work at OSU at the STEM Research Center as a researcher.

I began my college career many years ago at a community college in Florida before transferring to a four-year college. As a first generation college student who also worked full-time through my college career, I stumbled and had to learn the culture of higher ed while trying to navigate emerging adulthood. These may be similar challenges you are experiencing. You are not alone!

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina and my Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Oregon State University. Prior to returning to graduate school I had an awesome career with the NC State Park Service covering education in the western part of the state. I also am a trained yoga and kids yoga instructor!

I am all about helping people become more resilient and researching how - whether it is spending time outdoors, yoga and mindfulness practices, or through their education.

The syllabus for HDFS229- School Age and Adolescent Development is linked here.
