I will use this site to post the class Syllabus, Financial Templates we will use, Business Plan Template, Homework Assignments..... and anything else that looks like it might be helpful. PowerPoint slides will not be on this site. If you miss a class, I will have extra handouts from previous sessions.
I am the instructor and business adviser for the Linn-Benton Micro Business Class: Explore and Commit, put on by the Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College.
For close to 20 years I have owned and operated two start up businesses. Upon graduation from the U of O I took a job with Xerox selling office machines. After four and half years I figured that rather than working for a company why not start my own. Starting with myself as the sales person and one service technician in 1984 I began a 15 year period of growing to 20 employees, 2 million in sales, and a 5,000 square foot retail store in downtown Corvallis. In 1999 I was approached by a Nasdaq company about purchasing my business and ended up selling to them. In 2002 with a partner I opened a office furniture equipment company in Corvallis. After five years and reaching sales of 1 million I decided it was time to retire again. Currently I use my 20 years of success and failures in the business world to provide advising for start up and small business's at LBCC Small Business Development Center. I also teach a Micro Business Class about the planning process to evaluate your business idea and begin a business plan for that idea.
